The construction of a new aircraft hangar at the Smith Reynolds Airport is complete.
The Forsyth Technical Community college’s new $16 million aviation lab consists of a two story 51,962 sqft building and a 16,000 sqft aviation hangar that can accommodate up to 8 of their aircraft. The building contains classrooms and a library where students will learn associate degrees in Aviation Systems Technology or Aviation Electronics. In the future they can expect to fill jobs paying upwards of $60,000.
AeroDoor were awarded the design, fabrication and installation of the 100ft wide x 22ft high bottom rolling door as part of a design build project by Branch Builds Inc.
The door configuration chosen is commonly referred to as unidirectional or one way. The door contains a motor on the leading leaf which drives all four leaves past one side of the opening. Electric conductor bar delivers power to the door motor and control panel from the buildings 480v 3 phase source.
AeroDoor installers handled all electrical wiring and conduit on the door as part of a broader installation scope that included the leveling angle, bottom rail, top guide rails and door leaves. Across the top of each door leaf are two top guide rollers which provided a fixed live load deflection of 3-inches across the width of the opening. There are two 12-inch steel wheels across the bottom chord which roll on a 30lb ASCE embedded rail system.
AeroDoor include up to 5-years warranty on the door, as well as a lifetime of service and maintenance options that the client can consider.
