Who is manufacturing your bottom rolling hangar doors?

warrantyThis just might be the most important question in your entire hangar door project. The quality and reliability of construction will impact your costs, ease of installation, time to completion, future repair & maintenance requirements, and certainly the overall profitability and viability of your project.

Since 1978, AeroDoor has been manufacturing large-scale hangar doors to fit any size building opening. We serve new (build-to-suit) and existing buildings (remodel/redesign) in the aviation, space, marine and rail industries.

Every one of our doors are manufactured in-house, right here in our Central Florida location so that we can control every aspect of the process and assure our customers the highest possible quality.

As a testament to our manufacturing processes, all of our hangar doors come with a 5-year warranty on structural defects and workmanship.

Aerodoor Manufacturing things to Know:
Your Specifications Constructed with Precision

  • Integrated Electric

Optimized electrical systems based on size, weight and usage requirements.

  • Negotiable Lead Times

Everything is handled in-house – with the ability to fast track as needed.

  • Certified Welders

We hire AWS D1.1/D1.1M certified welders.

How does the AeroDoor in-house manufacturing process benefit you?

Well, there are many tangible benefits to a completely in-house manufacturing process:

Control
We assign the most experienced and knowledgable team members to every job – never farming manufacturing work out to unreliable 3rd party vendors.

Efficiency
Our team has been working together for decades. Teamwork matters.

Evolution
After nearly 50 years in the business, learning from every possible hangar door situation and outcome, we’ve honed our craft in ways that decentralized operations never could.

Cost Savings
Our manufacturing process delivers speed and quality that will save you money in operating costs and future repairs. But because we handle your entire project from beginning to end, we’re able to bring savings to the design, delivery, installation phases as well.

What is the AeroDoor manufacturing facility like?

Aerodoor has a 2acre manufacturing facility in Central Florida. Steel fabrication takes place inside a fully enclosed building with adequate space for cleaning, sandblasting and priming of structural steel.

Pre manufacturing design and calculations are completed in commercial computer aided design software by licensed structural engineers.

We design and manufacture our hangar doors in pieces that can fit on a legal or oversize trailer. When the door is delivered on site, the door pieces are bolted together. Each spliced joint will develop 100% of the strength of the framing members.

Common Hangar Door Manufacturing Questions

  • What are the doors made from?

We design all supporting, steel bracing and framing steel members in accordance with the specified loads and the requirements of AISC 325 and AISC 360. Any cold formed steel in accordance with AISI SG03-3. Welds in accordance with the AWS D1.1/D1.1M Standards. Wheels are made from steel plate, typically flame hardened if 18” or greater.

  • Can you handle custom orders?

Yes. If it involves steel design and fabrication we have the capabilities.

  • What are my options in manufacturing a hangar door?

    • Door size: We design the door to the opening on the clients building.
    • Configuration: This is how the door leaves will move when the door is operated. The choice will impact cost, time and efficiency. We can help you to make the best choice. (Configurations include Biparting, One Way Single Slide, Group or Independent.)
    • Upgrades: Sensing Edge. Cable System. Window & Door Frames.
  • Can you ship these doors outside the USA?

Yes, we can design the doors to fit inside steel shipping containers.

  • What credit terms does AeroDoor offer?

We take an engineering deposit before we proceed. The balance is payable using a schedule of values. The schedule of values shows the total project on paper, step by step. This allows the architect or project owner to quickly see the percentage of each item that has been completed. AeroDoor typically submits the schedule of values with an application for payment and any other documentation to support the request when the material is delivered.

  • Are the doors motorized?

Motors and controls are included on all doors unless stated otherwise. If there’s a power failure to the door, the motor can be disengaged quickly and the door can be moved by a tug or tractor.

  • What is the standard manufacturer’s warranty?

5-Years on structural defects and workmanship. 1-Year on electrical. 1-Year on weatherseals. The warranty does not apply to damage caused by misuse or improper maintenance.

  • Do you offer fast track manufacturing?

We will always listen and try to facilitate your delivery date requests. The time it takes for a client to approve our drawings and the lead time for raw materials will dictate this.

  • How Does Shipping Work?

AeroDoor handles the loading, shipment and unloading. (Projects installed by AeroDoor on US soil only).

  • What happens if a change order is needed during hangar door manufacturing?

Change orders are handled per the terms of the subcontract.

  • What are the factors beyond the door itself that we should consider?

Items that typically fall outside AeroDoors scope are sheeting, liner panel, concrete, drainage, personnel doors, exit signs, lights and finish paint.

“We have hangar doors that were still operational after battling Hurricane Andrew, Ivan and Katrina and probably others too.”
