Contracted to design, manufacture and install this all moving hangar door system on a Government Air Force Base in Colorado. Each hangar door leaf has it’s own motor and controls, allowing them to move independently. The military grade sensing edges will stop the door before it comes in to contact with anything.
The facility contains a 6-bay 44,600 square foot high-bay hangar for aviation maintenance and storage with supporting spaces for allied maintenance workshops and parts storage. The two-story administrative portion of the facility contains flight planning and operations, briefing rooms, offices, company operations, and company readiness storage.
Fire suppression systems will include wet pipe in the administrative areas, dry pipe in the exterior storage areas, and pre-action and high expansion foam in the hangar bays.
Special foundations will be used due to the location’s expansive and corrosive soil. Also included is the construction of 92,667 square yards of concrete airfield paving and the demolition of six buildings located along the airfield.
This project is registered with the U.S. Green Building Council with a goal of achieving LEED® Silver certification upon construction completion.
